**You will need to show a picture ID when entering the Capitol or the Annex**

From west of Frankfort:  Take I-64 to the first set of Frankfort exits and take Exit 53-B (second of the 127 exits), proceeding northbound on Highway 127.

To go to the parking garage:  Turn right at the third light (Penney’s shopping center on your right past Kroger’s; K-mart on your left) onto Highway 676.  Go through two traffic lights, one caution light and then turn left onto Highway 420 at the third traffic light.  There is a left-turn lane and arrow and a sign on the right “To the Capitol”.  Turn left into the Capitol Parking Garage and park on Levels 5 or 6 (the first or second levels you come to).  Follow the directions below.

From east of Frankfort:  Take I-64 to the first Frankfort exit, onto Highway 60.  Take Highway 60 northbound toward Frankfort; turn right at the bottom of the ramp.  Turn left onto Highway 676 at the second traffic light.  Immediately crossing the Kentucky River, turn right onto Highway 420 at traffic light.  Travel about a mile and turn left into the Capitol Parking Garage.  Park on Levels 5 or 6 (the first or second levels you come to) and follow the directions below.

Once in the Capitol Parking Garage:  Take the parking garage elevator UP to Level 1 (I know it is illogical, but Level 6 is the bottom level of the garage!).  When you exit from the elevator at Level 1, go straight ahead through the glass doors to the outside parking lot (also open to non-legislator parking).  The Capitol Annex is directly ahead of you and the Capitol building is slightly to your right.

Handicap Accessibility: Exit at Level 2 in the parking garage and go through the tunnel to the lift on your left at the end of the tunnel, just before the stairs.  Take the lift up to the basement level and check in with the security guard (if one is at the small desk).  Then go straight down the long hallway to the first intersection.  Turn right and proceed into the foyer.  The elevators are on the left.  Go up one flight to the first floor.  Exit from the elevator and check in with the security guard.  He will be able to give you specific instructions for finding any of the Annex meeting rooms, all of which are on this floor.

Entering the Capitol Annex:  Walk straight ahead on the ground level and then up the outside broad stairs to the plaza level.  You will pass one set of locked doors on your left.  Continue to the next set of doors (usually there is a sign outside the doors indicating “Visitors’ Entrance”.]  You be directly across from the Capitol at this point.

Go inside the doors and through the electronic metal detector.  You should check in with the security guard, show a picture ID and be given a sticker.  All of the Committee meeting rooms (numbered in the 100’s) are on this floor.  To reach Room 171, walk straight ahead as you leave the security guard’s desk to the first intersection.  Turn right and walk to the next intersection.  Turn left; room 171 is the first meeting room on the right.  You can ask the security guard for directions or look for signs posted on the walls down the corridor.  Rest rooms are on your right, just past the security guard desk.

If you are going to the cafeteria, from the 1st floor, take the elevator or the stairs down one floor to the Basement of the Annex.  From the elevator, turn right (from the steps, turn left) and walk down the corridor, past the intersecting corridor.  The cafeteria is on your right.

Going to the Capitol from the Annex:  At the basement level, exit the elevator to your left or the stairs to your right to the long underground tunnel that connects the Capitol and the Capitol Annex.  At the Capitol end, you will come up some stairs and be facing a small snack bar.  There is an elevator to the right and stairs to the left which will take you to the first floor (Governor’s office, press conference room and Rotunda floor) or up to the 3rd floor (House chamber to the right and Senate chamber to the left from elevator).

Don’t hesitate to ask for directions.  People are very helpful!
